Jennifer Gordon is a writer and mixed media artist who currently resides outside Columbus Ohio. She graduated from the acting program at the New Hampshire Institute of Art. After five years of regional professional theater she decided to express herself in other mediums as well, finally stumbling on the combination of writing and art. She decided to go back to school and study English and Art History at the University of New Hampshire while working as an assistant gallery director at the Art 3 Gallery in New Hampshire. Her mixed media art creations are another form of storytelling- her love for antique letters led me to an exploration of the hidden stories of letters of the past. Let’s find out more:

Hi, My name is Jennifer Gordon, I’m originally from New Hampshire, but re-located to Columbus OH, about 6 years ago. I’m a former theater Actor,Poet, Comic Shop Owner, Magicians Assistant….and now I make my living selling my art. When I’m not busy in my studio I am a competitive ballroom dancer.
Tell us about what you make & your inspiration?
I make mixed media collages (and then sell art prints of them). They are heavily influenced by Women, mainly showgirls, dancers, and actresses from the late Victorian Era through the very early 1920’s. I have always been very fascinated with this time period, and especially with the women who chose to be performers during such a repressed time period.
What is your favourite item to make/sell ?
Small collages roughly 8×8 or 8×10 are my favorite thing to make and sell on etsy, as well as aceos on canvas. I like to think that my art can be very accessible to everyone and making small collages and prints are a good way to do that. I also love making aceos because it’s a good way to experiment with new ideas and techniques without having the pressure of a major piece of art.
Do you have any favourite Etsy items you’ve bought?
I bought my husband and I’s wedding bands on etsy from downtothewiredesigns those are my favorite etsy purchases

Whats the best advice you’ve ever been given?
Just simply to be happy, and to try my hardest not to care what anyone else is doing or thinking, and to never play by the rules. Also to stand up straight all the time, this is advice from my dance instructor…it makes you look 10lbs thinner and makes you look and feel a lot more confident.
